1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the QKeyboard iOS application, its custom keyboard extension, and related services operated through QKeyboard (collectively, the “Service”). It does not replace the privacy policies of Apple, an AI provider you configure, or any app in which you use the keyboard.
2. Information we process
Depending on how you configure and use QKeyboard, the Service may process:
- Text submitted for a rewrite: selected text or text from the active input field, plus the writing mode and instructions you choose.
- AI configuration: provider mode, API base URL, model name, and connection status. If you bring your own key, the API key is stored in Apple Keychain.
- Preferences: theme, language, writing modes, custom instructions, cleanup settings, onboarding status, and similar app configuration.
- Local activity totals: successful rewrite count, words processed, streaks, daily quota usage, and milestones.
- Subscription status: product identifier, entitlement status, expiration information, and the time entitlement status was last verified.
QKeyboard does not use advertising identifiers and does not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs. The current app does not request your contacts, photos, precise location, microphone, or camera.
3. Keyboard text and AI requests
QKeyboard accesses text through Apple’s keyboard extension APIs. If text is selected, QKeyboard uses the selection. If no text is selected, it may use the available text in the current input field or document context so that the requested action can operate on that field.
QKeyboard sends this text to an AI service only after you intentionally choose a rewrite action. The returned result is shown for your review. You may replace the original text when the host app permits it, retry the request, or copy the result.
Some apps and secure text fields restrict what third-party keyboards can access or modify. QKeyboard cannot override those system or host-app restrictions.
4. Full Access
Apple requires you to enable “Allow Full Access” for a custom keyboard to communicate over the internet. QKeyboard uses this capability to contact the AI provider selected in the app when you request a rewrite and to share necessary settings between the QKeyboard app and keyboard extension.
You can disable Full Access or remove QKeyboard at any time in iOS Settings. AI rewriting from the keyboard will not work without the network access Full Access provides.
5. AI provider choices
QKeyboard AI
When the QKeyboard-provided AI option is available and selected, submitted text may be sent to QKeyboard’s service and infrastructure providers solely to generate the result you requested, operate the Service, prevent abuse, and maintain security. Availability, provider details, and technical configuration may change as the service develops.
Bring Your Own Key
If you select “Bring Your Own Key,” submitted text is sent directly to the OpenAI-compatible endpoint you configure. Your use of that provider is governed by its own agreement and privacy policy. QKeyboard does not control that provider’s processing, logging, training, security, location, or retention practices.
Your API key is stored in Apple Keychain and made available to the QKeyboard app and its keyboard extension for authenticated requests. QKeyboard does not intentionally display the complete key after it has been saved. You are responsible for securing, rotating, and revoking your key with its issuer.
6. Information stored on your device
Preferences, local activity totals, quotas, onboarding state, and a subscription entitlement snapshot are stored in the app’s shared local container so the main app and keyboard extension can work together. API credentials are stored separately in Apple Keychain.
By default, QKeyboard stores aggregate activity totals such as rewrite and word counts, not a browsable history of your submitted text. If you choose to enable Rewrite History in the main app, QKeyboard stores the resulting rewrite text, selected writing mode, and save time locally on your device. The keyboard extension does not create or read this history.
7. Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. Apple processes your payment information. QKeyboard receives transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock features, confirm access, and restore purchases. Apple’s handling of purchase information is governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
8. Clipboard behavior
QKeyboard writes a generated result to the iOS clipboard only when you tap Copy. The current rewrite flow does not proactively read clipboard contents. After copying, other apps may be able to read clipboard content according to iOS behavior and your device settings.
9. Retention and deletion
On-device settings, activity totals, and any saved rewrite history remain until you change or delete them, reset the app where an option is provided, or remove the app and its associated data. Keychain items may persist after app deletion depending on iOS behavior; you can remove a saved API key from QKeyboard before uninstalling or revoke it with the provider.
Text sent to an AI provider may be retained according to that provider’s terms, configuration, security needs, and legal obligations. QKeyboard cannot promise deletion or a particular retention period for a provider you independently configure.
10. Security
QKeyboard uses platform protections such as Apple Keychain for API credentials and encrypted HTTPS connections for configured secure endpoints. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Do not submit information you are not authorized to share, and avoid using untrusted or unencrypted provider endpoints.
11. Your choices and controls
- Choose between QKeyboard AI and a compatible provider you configure.
- Decide whether and when to submit text by tapping a writing action.
- Review generated text before replacing your original content.
- Remove or replace your API key in the app.
- Disable Full Access or remove the keyboard in iOS Settings.
- Cancel or manage subscriptions through your Apple ID settings.
- Delete QKeyboard from your device to remove its ordinary local app data, subject to iOS Keychain behavior.
12. Regional privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to personal information, such as rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of certain data, and to lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator.
Because QKeyboard currently operates primarily with data stored on your device and does not require a QKeyboard account, the operator may not be able to identify or retrieve data that exists only locally. Requests concerning a bring-your-own-key provider should be directed to that provider. To make a request concerning QKeyboard-operated services, use the contact method below.
QKeyboard does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
13. Children
QKeyboard is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law to consent to online services. The operator does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a QKeyboard account. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to a QKeyboard-operated service, contact us so the matter can be reviewed.
14. International processing
An AI provider or infrastructure provider may process submitted text in countries other than your own. Privacy protections may differ across jurisdictions. Your chosen provider’s policy should explain its processing locations and transfer safeguards.
15. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as QKeyboard’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date will be revised when changes are published. If a change materially affects how the Service handles information, reasonable notice will be provided through the app, website, or another appropriate channel.
16. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact the QKeyboard operator through www.quyvt.dev. Please do not include API keys, passwords, or sensitive text in your message.
